I ran the VIN on my car a while back. It was orginially a 250 I6 110hp car. It was made in Willow Run MI. The car had to be the cheapest thing on the lot lol...it has no emblems on it (didnt come new with them on it), didnt have a hole for the antenna (although fender I have now did, untill I shaved it). Car didnt even have back up lights . Which you can probally tell from pictures of my car. Because the ones that had back up lights had a little strip of white/clear on one of the tail lights on each side. Both of my Novas were made in Willow Run, my current nova is about a week older than my old one.

Yea your CRX had more power then the stock 250 that came in my nova new lol. Bad thing is, the smaller 235 in my truck makes 145hp with 8.25:1 compression. And its not meant to be a high hp engine...its meant to have torque and pull. So did my 307.

Hey 73nova, I saw a post on the truck forum I go to where a guy asked about what kinda hp his engine would make. Nobody had replied, so I thought id show you the specs. If you get time could you run these? If not its cool, just figured id try to help him out. Block: 350 CI Bore : 4.030 Stroke: 3.750 Valves: 1.94/1.50 Carb: 600 CFM Intake: Edelbrock performer RPM Headers: Large Tube (he just said headers, im guessing large tube) Cam Specs: Roller --Advanced Duration 254/262 -- Lift .447/462 Compression: 9.6:1 Says the heads are the stock production 882 heads. 76cc combustion chamber & 151? (i think) intake. BTW: Cam is Comp x4-254H. I couldn't find that cam as a roller, just flat tappet so I ran it both ways. Hydraulic flat tappet: 323hp@4500 454tq.@2500 Roller: 361hp@4500 495tq.@2500

Maybe ill get the 327 built quicker then I had expected (crosses fingers). My dad says he has a job waiting for me. I just have to go back and get my license again. (since i let them expire and been driving without them lol). Says he got me a job driving a dump truck soon as I get those, and go get my truck driver's permit. Around $250 - 300 a week probally, untill it slacks off during the winter. To bad I wont make as much as my dad does now that he has his own truck lol. He made $3,700 this last week. Got to keep $1,800 of that after paying $1,000 in gas, and some other in bills and taxes. $1,800 a week is good.

You plan to build it for the Nova??

Yea I plan on building it for the nova. I have a rattle in mine . Im hoping its just the rocker arms lose, but it doesnt sound good. Doesnt rattle all the time. When you crank it up, it will rattle for a split second...if your going down the road at 55 with the gas pressed just enuff to move the car (not getting on it) it will rattle. If you let off the gas it wont rattle...and if you floor it, it wont rattle.

Is it down on power? Could be a bad plug wire...are the valve springs duel springs? I've heard of the inner spring breaking before and the valve slapping the piston a little bit. Hard to say without hearing it...

If it is losing power, it isnt enuff to tell. It still runs fine...just makes a noise now. Im going to adjust the valves, check and see if the rocker arms are lose. I hope they are...if not, something else is wrong.

Just for the hell of it, do you run ported or manifold vacuum to the distributer?

Ive tried both before, im thinking its on manifold right now..but I could be wrong. Ill have to go check. If I switch it back to ported...could it effect it enuff to stop the problem?

Hard to say, but I'd try them both before you go pulling the motor something, I'd try putting a heavier spring under the rotor and if that doesnt fix it maybe try a higher octane fuel...assuming the timing is really the problem.

I was wrong, its ported vacuum. I went out there and tried it hooked to the manifold, and it ran like shit. It has 87 octane in it right now. I might go to the store later on and get some 93.

Still cant figure it out. My only guess is there is some shitty fuel around here. I put some more gas (higher octane then before) in it, and drove it around for a while...to get the last of the other gas out, and get the new gas mixed in. It stopped one day, then picked back up a few days later. I started it up today, and drove it into the barn and it never knocked/ticked a single time.
I guess its just some bad gas (both the old, and new came from the same place). Shouldnt have been any water in the gas tank, so must just be some shitty watered down gas.

Strange, I hope it's all worked out now and you can get back to blowing the tires off.
