Can't say much since I'm grounded from the pc but my pap and I looked at a '55 Bel Air that needs restored slightly. It only has a measly 283 in it, but hey, he's going for the "show" look, not go. I'll post up pics later, probably tomorrow.

Those 283's are good motors, with the right parts in them they sound mean as hell and can rev up pretty damn fast.

But no, I'm "grounded" from the computer because I didnt feel good the other day when I came home and wanted to go to sleep.. and my mom said I had to do hw. I told her I'm going to sleep, and she said "Well you're grounded from the computer" and I said, who cares. Its stupid, I'm on here now anyways, right? I'll post up pics later this evening if I can find a car and get my damned digi camera to work.

Their not great for torqe....or horse power for that matter, but they can easily rev past 9000. (depends on what shape the motor is in though) They use the same block as my 307 but it has a 1/4" smaller stroke (same crank they used in 302's) so they are one high revvin' SOB.

283's are tough lil engines. My grandpa's 59 has one in it. He dogged my uncle's truck on acceleration in it, and its a stock 283. (uncle has a 350 bored out, with double hump heads). His 59 is fast for a stock 283, take down alot of cars 0-100...but with the 3 speed, and stock gearing...it tops out easy.
