I have been thinking for the past few days about what id like to do to my car. I have decided on something, and if I do it..it could mean my car would be undrivable for atleast 1-2 years (because of money).
I have thought about going towards the track/road race, instead of drag. I like racing where you have curves and different stuff besides just a straight line, and I also like drag racing. So its kinda hard for me to decide where to spend my money...but I think im going for the road race type of car. Everybody knows american cars can get it done at the strip...be nice to show them what they can do at the track. (although if my plans work...it would be FAR from stock lol)

Reason the car would be down for so long is because of all the stuff Id like to do. If you tear something down to mod it...might as well go all the way right? ;D I still plan on building the 306, and Id like to get a manual tranny setup...thought about a 6 speed (same tranny as the vettes), but a good 5 speed or 4 speed would be nice also. Depending on gearing of the trans, and how the engine would pull (it being more of top end HP and not low end torque like most bigger engines), id like to get either 3:73 or 3:55 gears...may do it to my 10 bolt....or just get a 12 bolt. Still havent decided on what all parts to get for the front end, and what brakes to get. I plan on putting a full cage in the car...and I might just go ahead and buy a whole front suspension. The body would be stripped, with aluminum interior (floor pans and all). Aluminum dash with gauges. Aluminum or fiberglass front clip, doors, and trunk lid. 245 - 17's front, 275 - 17's rear. And some other things. Might try to join the 200mph club if you know what I mean .

Strange, I've been thinking of doing pretty much the same thing to a disco Nova for quite awhile, kinda like a remake of the old trans-am cars. A 6 speed would be nice but would cost alot to begin with and cost alot to fix anything that breaks, a 4 speed would be fairly "inexpensive" and would be easy to work on but wouldn't be nearly as strong as a 6 speed. If you go with a 4 speed I would get 4.11 rear gears and probably 3.73s for a 6 speed. Have you thought about an EFI setup? That 306 would run damn good with one.

Yea the 6 speed is expensive. $2,800 - $3,200 out of jegs. But I figured if I went thru with spending all the money on all that other stuff....spending alot on a tranny wouldnt make much difference right? I have thought about EFI, but I dont know if ill use it or stick with a carb.
