Hey, yeah I believe the "fail-Safe" thermo is what is in there. It's pretty much the only way to account for my lack of heat. It's snowed alot lately so I haven't driven the truck in days, See I have what look like great tires on it but, the traction really sucks. And the Lumina is pretty much just sitting so I drive it when it snows or is going to while I'm at work. Heck the only draw back is it's Artic White so, if I ditch it no one can see me. It's the week end (for me anyways) so I'll play with it, I plan on getting a mini gauge set with a temp gauge, I hate "Idiot lights" they only come on after it's too late.
Becides I'm still thinking about swapping in a newer 2.2 / five speed or automatic. With an auto I can sell the truck easier when I don't need it anymore. I'll post back on how things go . Later

Idiot lights come on when nothing is wrong, and dont work when there really is trouble half the time. I have a Temp gauge, Oil gauge, Amp guage, and Tach in my car.

Yeah that's basically what I put in ever car I get. Well except the Lumina, was under warranty till a couple of months ago. I don't know about putting my tach. I might buy a new one cause I'm saving the one I got for a '95 Z24 I plan on getting soon. It's a D.I.S. compatiable "Mini" tach. The truck has a disburtor so that expenisive tech isn't needed. I just don't get this thing they started (All car makers) about ten fifteen years ago. Automatics started coming with tachs and sticks don't? It makes absolutly no sence at all. My Lumina which didn't even have a stick shift option came with a tach as a standard.O'well Later

I think car makers lost thier minds after the muscle car wars...the've seen to do odd stuff ever since then.

73nova73....Would the speedo (whole dash piece) out of a 73-74 Nova like yours fit into the 75-79 models? My car only registers 100, doesnt help at all when it shows the speedo bottomed in 2nd gear lol.
I need to do something about my speedo cable too...im having a hard time getting one to read right, since the gearing is different from a stock Nova. The same cable in my cousin's car will work fine...then try to put it in mine..and it will be off by about 15mph.

I THINK the dash bezel from a 69-74 will fit in a 75-76 but I'm not sure, I have 2 '73 speedos kicking around, I suppose if you pay shipping, I could send you one. I'll take pictures later tonight and post them in this thread. Oh and I think the only way to make the speedo read correctly after rear gear changes is to put a new speedo gear in the tranny. www.novaresource.org/speedo.htm might help.

I couldnt find the peice that all this mounts in but I will look for it again tomorrow, it could be in storage. None of this stuf is perfect but I beleive it all works. If I can find that other piece I will put it all together.

There is a 69, and a 74 Nova nearby here that I could probally get the speedo out of. (If its in good shape or will even work). I was just wondering if they would work..ive never looked at one really closely..but they seem alot alike.
The pic of the speedo you posted above looks just about exactly the same as in my car.

The dash bezel it self looks alot alike so i think that they would interchange but I'm not sure if a 73 cluster would fit in a 76 bezel.

Okay, we're back to the "universal parts" thing again. I believe they are the same as well. I would check for a Monte Carlo, Malibu, or Camaro gauge cluster if I were in need of one for your car. Basically GM was doing anything and everything to save a buck and many parts are the same just looked a little different or in a different spot. But, if it would work one of these should have a 120 or higher speedo. You might have to go Aftermarket. Problem is I doubt anyone makes a "Cluster" for your car, they might. Hope you find what you're looking for. If not I could "comb" the local yards for something that would work. Let me know if you need me too. Later

Im going to check out those 2 nova's around here..sometime or another. Once I get time. Ill let you know if it will work or not. Might get creative and make my own lol.
Aftermarket w/ high speed range would be nice..but dont think there is such a thing for Nova's...if they were it probally wouldnt be for the 75-79 year models.

Supernova, you must be thinking of one that would be like the orignal cause the Aftermarkets are universal. Looking at his dash he would need to make a panel and replace all the Gauges.
Has either of you found out if any other G-bodies came with a higher speedo? The yards wheren't open (it was Sunday so of course not) Let me know what's going on. Later
