Well I had one '85 LTD that went though three tranys in six months. I believe the biggist problem come from the fact that Mustangs are the main donors for it. In other words even after rebuilding a trany beat that baddly is still going to fail quickly.
And just so I'm fair Dodge has had more then their share of transmission troubles too. The Avenger has a very bad "resale Value" because of trans trouble. I know one person that a rod just snapped and broke the case of their's with 10,000 miles on it. And almost everyone at work that owns a Dodge has had problems in the last two years.
In the end it still comes down to luck and mantaince. I would buy almost any American car tomorrow, not just a Chevy. I still will not trust an Import. Later

Dude you wanna hear something weird? Alright get this. My car is running good right? But I decide to put new plugs and wires on it. (good while back). I took each plug out, and wire off one by one. Making sure I didnt mix them up. Started it back up...car was skipping. #3, and #5 wires were crossed. They had to be like that before. Because I only changed one at a time.
Odd if you ask me. lol

On about my 15th try I got them to where they look like they are in the right places. They are accel super stock wires, nice wires but they could have at least stamped the number of the cylinder on the boots.

Hey mustang guy. Here is a little something one of my more demented ford loving friends told me. " If the #7 and #8 wires are switched the engine will run and sound right just have no power and might miss under a load" I'm thinking it might be what you're talking about. We found his problem though a dumb EGR pipe broke and created a major vacuum leak. Hope you get your's fixed too . Later
