Oh, I'm getting an edelbrock carb for mine before spring(yours truly rebuilt the q-jet so now it's fucked)and I'll probably get one with an electric choke.

The ones with electric choke really arent that much. I was just trying to save my self $50 bucks or so. (think that was the difference between manual and electric when I got mine) Might be more, or might be less now, dunno.
lol Ive never tried to rebuild a Q-Jet carb...I always figured Id mess it up. I rebuilt the carb on my truck..but there is a big difference between a little 1 brrl..and a Q-Jet.

It was my first time rebuilding a carb and on top of that, I was useing parts from 3 diffrent carbs.(the only real problem with it is the float keeps sticking)

lol I tried to use the gaskets off another carb for the one on my truck. Just as I figured...the gaskets were bad on the other one also. Course that doesnt take much knowledge to know a carb made in 57 (what I got it off of) would have bad gaskets/seals.

600, 750 would be overkill for the 307.

lol yea, when we first built the engine it was mostly stock besides the 750 carb. (back when my dad had it) The carb was running the least amount of fuel it could and still giving the car too much gas. After I got it and the new heads, cam, intake and all....it runs alot better now.

Ok heres the beast as she came. Needs some beauty work and maybe a dress up kit. But the VIN code says its a 307, the guy said it was a 305, and how it feels and whats been added to it says atleast a 327. If i wasnt so lazy id drop the pan and check but i dont really wanna lift the engine yet since im already falling behind on all my other plans do to the schitty weather up here in WA. So for the anti-haterism im just gonna stick with calling it a 307 for now. Then when i kno for sure ill stick up the real info

You can't tell a 307 from a 327 by dropping the pan because they both have the same stroke, the only diffrence between a 307 and 327 is the size of the bore.

Doesnt the 327 have a different harmonic balancer then the other small blocks? or is that the 283?

The 307 has a really small balancer, the 327 one is only slightly smaller than a 350 one. I think the only SBC that has a specail balancer is the 400 which is externally balanced.

im not very good at this stuff so any easier suggestions to find out for sure what it is?
I dont really wanna drop the pan cuz its a pain in the ass and im not so sure its even gonna tell me now lol
