you can do A LOT to a street civic but u are right about the torque....the only way to get torque from a honda motor is with forced induction. honda is all about top end

Yeah, but even with a supercharger or turbo, the stroke length just doesnt let enough air/fuel into the cylinders.

4 cylinders are all about high rev's. They can make good horsepower with the right mods, but they dont have as much torque as a V8. (small V8's dont have enuff stroke to make really good torque either....ex. 267 V8)

Ej (or whoever else knows a little about Hondas) what engine is it that has a hella lot of torque (for a Honda anyways)? I think its one of the B18's but I'm not sure, and im too tired/lazy to look it up lol. I heard something like, 190 lb/ft or something like that.

That isnt bad tho, not concidering some 350's had that much. (ones after they had to cut back on power, and all the emission laws and stuff in the late 70's - 80's)

Possible the fseries motor from the s2000? The torquiest thing im aware of that can go into a civic is an h22. b20 from a crv has some good torque too but im not really sure of what has 190lbs

Welcome to the forum Fred. Good luck on the vette, some people let the 80's ones go pretty cheap, but others will try to rip you off. Maybe you can find a good deal on one.
