I'm pretty much fed up with the Holley, the float keeps sticking and it pukes gas all over the place and the throttle won't return like it's supposed to so it doesn't stop on the idle screw. For those of you that have Edelbrock carbs are there any problems with them that I should know about before buying one? I've heard that if they don't have heat insulater the gas boils very quickly? I've also heard about deiseling problems with them?

I havent had any problems out of mine. When I first got it, it took me a while to get it set right...but since then I havent had any problems out of it. It has never flooded on me, I did have the filter clog up once and leak some gas onto the intake (wasnt really the carbs fault tho).
IMO Edelbrock is the best carb for street/strip cars. Something you want to drive alot on the street, yet still run good on the track. Far as all out drag racing, never seeing road or maybe just not often id go with a Holley Demon.

Depending on the type of Demon carb...they can get up past $1,000 each. Speaking of vette I saw something you dont see everyday around here (or your area probally). Saw a mid 90's corvette sitting beside a guys house JUNKED. Wasnt wrecked, looked like a good body (needed paint bad). Had grass growing up to the windows in it.

What did you have to do to it before it ran right? Are they lieing when they say "out of the box performance"?

When I first put mine on there some of the problem was from it still having the stock heads and all. They say "out of the box performance", but you will still have to fine tune it to get the most out of it.

Is it worth getting a calabration kit or are you just talking float adjustments and idle mixtures?

I just did float adjustments and air/fuel mixtures. When I took it to have the front end rebuilt for me, the guy also did a few more adjustments and it ran better then what I had it. Dont know what all he did tho.

Ok thanks for the info, I'm gonna go up to the local ricer store and price one up to see if it would be cheaper there or to order it from Jegs.

Shouldnt be too much difference in the price. Jegs may be a little cheaper ($20 or so maybe). The catalog I have has the Edelbrock Peformer series carbs listed at $245 for a manual choke 750. When I got my 750 it was $199 plus taxes...but that was a little while ago. Id image the prices have gone up a little...so Jeg's price sounds about right. Edelbrock's OE replacement Q-jets cost more then the other carbs .
