I have a question about a stall converter. Would a B&M Holeshot 3000 (2,800 - 3,200RPM is the range I believe) be a good choice on the 327 that I mentioned about maybe building under the desktop dyno thread? I was thinking I might need something with a little higher stall, any opinions?

With that much cam you'll need something more, you'll never get it tuned right and it'll push through the brakes at stop lights, I am by no means an expert on the subject but a TCI converter with 4400-5000 stall speed may be a better choice.

TCIs are EXPENSIVE but I don't know how high of a stall you can get from B&M, I'm just going by whats in the Jegs catalog. I'd say fuck it and put a 4-speed in it.

Yep lol. Reach about 100mph before you have to shift to 2nd...and that was on the stock cars that came with them .

Trust me, you don't want a 'glide for the street, stick wth a 350 or 400, you would only want a powerglide on 10 second or faster cars. Powerglides take alot of torque to turn and your not going to have any with that motor.

Well far as wanting a glide for the street, I agree with you...thats why I have the tranny I have now instead of a glide. But I had thought about using my truck as a daily driver, and using the nova to have fun with. Take it to the tracks and drive it on the weekends.
I know the glide takes some torque...but what if the gears were changed. And put a little steeper rear axle gears?

www.2quicknovas.com/tranny.htmlLaunch ratios are towards the bottom of the page, you can see that it would take a very steep gear to equal the ratio you have now with the 400 and 4.17s.

Wonder what kind of top speed it would have with that engine, richmond 6 speed, 3:73 gears?
trans gears are: 1st 3.28 2nd 2.14 3rd 1.57 4th 1.24 5th 1.00 6th .76

Ive thought about running 17's. Probally 275/50/17's or 275/40/17's....but im not 100% sure yet, so the diameter would just be a guess.

Assuming you went with 275/40s, the overdrive would put your final gear ratio at 3.49, you would have to turn the motor exactly 9126rpm to get to 200, and that's assuming that motor has enough torque to do it.

The engine would spin that many RPMs. Most of its power would come from higher rpms...but at that rpm dont know if it would have enuff to still climb.
You can get the 6 speed with a lower 6th (.62 instead of .76)...but the first few gears are lower also.
