They will make nice black marks. Far as noise it just depends mostly on how fast you get them turning or how long they spin...soon as they get heated up they squeal.
I have 245/50?(might be 60..have to check)/14's rear and 205/60/14's front. Id like to get some 275's but I might just wait and see if I can get the funds for the rebuild.

Soon as I can get my photos online I want to show you a pic of my tires. I have an odd wear in the rear tires. Its on the inside of the tires, and about middle ways on the sidewall. Looks like the shock has been rubbing it.
Somebody told me the shock mounts might have been taken off and put back on backwards mistakingly before I got it. Ive check it them out and they are on right...or atleast on like my previous 2 Nova's...and they never rubbed.
Only thing I can think of is my rims are offset too much and sitting the tire too close to the shock. But the thing that gets me is, the tires arent touching the shocks.
My only guess would be that they tires flex and the sidewall moves over enuff to touch the shock while going thru a sharp curve fairly fast.

That's odd, I've never heard of that being a problem, you have 10" wide rims, right?

Yea 10" rear and 8" front.
I think I've found the problem tho. Dont know if I ever mentioned it or not before (im thinking i did)..but the previous owner(s) had put "blocks" of metal about 1"-2" to lower the car. (whole car was lowered when i got it, front and rear). At the time I didnt have another rear end to put my stuff in, and didnt want to risk trying to grind the blocks off and screwing up the rear end. So I got some shackles and raised it up level and just left the blocks.
Well, I think they are causing the rub. Since the blocks are on the bottom of the rear end between it and the shock mount....it is sitting the tires up higher (keep in mind when I say higher, i mean towards the body...so when its on the ground it would lower the car). By it sitting the tires up higher and the shock mount/shock staying in the same place it is putting the tire too close. And causing it to rub whenever the tire flexes the least little bit.
Hope I make sense....if not ill get some pics up later this week.

Not really, I took it back over to the shop and the only thing I've done to in the past month is take the plugs out, clean 'em and take the gap down a little. (it's had a misfire for awhile, that solved the problem)

....Transmission has to come back out, I fried the torque converter. I guess it didn't like the big smoky burnout beside the shop. I need a new right rear tire too. (no, I didnt ruin my brand new BFG's )

That sucks, hope you get it out and back in easily. If your luck is like mine, you will always run into something that will slow you down.

It shouldn't be too bad, I've had plenty of practice taking things apart on this car. The worst part will be trying to get it high enough off the ground with just jack stands.

Yeah no kidding.
Just an update, I think I've decided not to get the Nova painted for a while for two reasons, 1 I don't it's realistic that I can afford to have it done right and 2 I'm not sure about some of the bondo work I've done, it's starting to crack in a few spots. I think I'll do all the final body work and spray it with an epoxy primer to seal it then spray it with a flat black primer and call it good for now.

Just remember....quality over speed. May take you longer but atleast you will feel comfortable with it.

I haven't touched the car since my last post...but I'm thinking i fried the clutches in the transmission so I'm just going to replace it. My friend is putting a TH-400 in his GTO so he's giving me his old TH-350, I'm sure it's fine because he never drives hard at all.
I'm hoping to order a set of cragers soon, rally wheels would not look right at all on a flat black car.

Ive always liked the 5 star cragers, they look good on muscle cars...and have for YEARS. On the other hand, you could be unique and get something nobody else has on a nova...or very few have.
