But Is it really that easy to get 300hp out of a civic? Guy on cardomain claims to have a supercharger and shit done to his (over 3k) and has right under 300hp. There is a 700hp honda that runs 9's...but take a 700hp small block chevy and you can do less then that..even with the weight. For some reason, alot of imports need really high hp to put out good numbers. (EX. Supra's aka dyno queens) When you say a Civic though, are you talking a Civic with a 92 horsepower engine, or one with an engine swap? It wouldn't be all that hard to do so. Superchargers are stupid (for the money) on a 4 banger. Whooptie freakin doo, 90 hp for $3k. When have you ever seen a 700 HP domestic do lower than 9's? I'm talking streetable, not tubbed out or sumshit like that.

Ive seen domestic cars that are street legal and can do 7 flat. Not in person, but cars in magizines and online. Yes those where tubbed..but its still was street legal. Ive seen non tubbed domestics that run 8's. None of the 7 second ones where 700hp..but the 8's where (mid - high 8 second cars).

I'd have to see it to believe it... even in Hot Rod's "Pump Gas Drags", where all the cars were street legal, the best time was a low 9. Also, I'm still talking <$4000 mods.

There's a guy with a '73 Nova with 600+ hp and is in the mid 10s, not tubbed and runs on pump gas and is driven on the street all the time. He has alot more than $4000 in it but it's still alot cheaper than trying to get a Honda in the 10s.

Naturally more then $4000...but you wont find a import with 4k running those times either. Also you talk about an engine swap..are you counting on subracting the cost of the engine to swap from that 4k? If not, that would be like saying a chevette with a 454, and not subracting the 454 from 4k...and still have the 4k for mods.

A 12 second CRV.. lol Did you know the engine in your CRV has been used for years? It's a little different, but that B20 had been used for a while. Oh, I stopped posting because i really didnt want to argue ..(hate arguing, even on here) but just to tell you, there's a guy on homemadeuturbo.com that just his an 11.28 in his B18 Turbocharged/intercoolered CRX, which he's invested only about $3500 in, making 380WHP, (going for 400+) and he's hoping with some chassic tuning and more fine tuning of the engine, he'll break into the 10's.

Import or Export ... how about a blend?
1989 Volvo 740 Turbo, Excellent strength and chassis rigidity, practical, comfortable, and safe.
ADD
heavily modifed 350HP Ford 5.0L mated to a Ford Racing close ratio 5 speed.
Not sure how to classify it but I can tell you it sure is a lot of fun!!!

Although Volvo's look like tanks mine weighs just under 3000 lbs. Will be removing a few more pounds over the winter in a goal to get it down to 2900. I live in Canada so really who needs air conditioning up here, plus I have an aluminum hood that weighs a scan 20 pounds, remove a few more bits and pieces and it shoul dbe close to target weight.
