It'll be a cold day in hell before I do research on a ford, and even IF it got 1000 hp, the low end is probly terrible. And I doubt it would be streetable, the car I was talking about had 1200 hp and 1000 ft. lbs of tq, and is plenty streetable.

5% of fords today are on the sides of the roads. The other 95% didnt make it out the driveway jk bro Dont say 4cyl made 1000hp...your just encouraging more ricers to had more NAWWWS. This is the street eh? Well thats true...it isnt stock chevy 302 kicking stock ford 302. You can mod a 302. But if you want a engine to mod, and then talk junk....why not go big block? See the day when your 302, meets a 572 chevy on the street. "Its the street BEEEEEEOCHH!!" ;D

"for a few grand you can make a 4 cyl push 1000hp" Im not hating on you bro, but you say ever ford only needs a few grand to make high hp. You said for only a few grand a 302 can make 500hp easy....for only a few grand a 351 can make 1000hp easy..now the 4cyl. Im not saying its impossible to make a 4cylinder with 1000hp...that can be done. But it would take alot more then a few grand.

WOW..just to put things in perspective..I stopped by my engine builder Saturday to see how my motor was doing as far as getting it on the Dyno. We got to talking about this exact subject. He builds Mopar, Chevy, Ford even AMC. You know what he says? A Chevy motor does not know it's a Chevy. It's an engine. Period. It's all in how they are built. It's just as easy to build a good Ford motor as it is a Chevy. 8 rods and 1 crank. Now he does agree that the reason people picked Chevy, was because the aftermarket parts were more available, and cost less, but Ford has caught up. The aftermarket companies like Edelbrock, Brodix, Holley went after the Chevy market first. The ratio was about 4 to 1. So they went after the bigger market. As far as a couple of grand to get ANY motor to 1000 HP? The block alone will cost you 2 grand just so it will hold up. As far as HP..they just had the NHRA Dyno Challange for sport compact in Pomona. With NO power adders, 4 cylinder winner made 383.3 HP at the wheels.
..and I drive a 65 Ford Mustang with a V8.

Yea...DRAG CAR. Thats a max out street illegal 4 cylinder car probally. And a 4 cylinder with 1000hp will not last near as long as a 1000hp V8.

Because HELL YES IT CAN, the chevy 302 was rated at 290 hp but it was acually closer to 340. and the ford of the late 60s was rated at 290(if i remember right) and really was 290, AND the chevy could easily wind up to 11,000, my dad pegged a 10,000 tach in his 302 Camaro, and i saw on a tv show that with open exhaust, hedders (which were in the trunk from the factory) and a better cam, it could crank out 450 hp.Sure they were prone to throwing rods but if you kept the rpms down to 8-9 K then they would last quit awhile.

Ron Yeah but, chevy parts are alot more interchangeable than ford or mopar, that why there is so much aftermarket for them, any SBC crank will work in any SBC.Hell, even the pistons and rods from a V6 will work in a SBC.

Nah, thats not what I meant. He was talking about stock 302, vs stock chevy 302. But was talking about "this is the street" and he could mod a ford 302. What I meant was, if he didnt that...it wouldnt be stock vs stock anymore. And if he wanted to take a 302 and mod it...why not mod a big block?

oh, but a chevy 302 could take a big block at the top end, they didnt have a strong low end though.
